5 Tips for Boosted Spring Energy

Winter has finally come to an end, and it’s a great time to hit the reset button. It’s time to step out into the world once more. You don’t have to reach full speed right away — just make small gentle steps in the right direction.

Let’s look at five simple ways to shake off winter and get some spring back in your step.

Enjoy gentle exercise

When temperatures get cold, it’s easy to stay inside and stop moving. While there are lots of ways to keep your blood pumping over winter, motivation can be hard to come by. When this period ends and the sun comes out to play, it’s time to enjoy some exercise. You don’t have to sprint out of the blocks — slow gentle movements are often the best place to start. You could go for a nice walk in the park, dust off your bike, or roll out the yoga mat and stretch those creaky joints.

Stretch your legs, shake off the cobwebs, and take small but mindful steps to reinvigorate your body.

Embrace the elements

When the warmer weather arrives, it’s time to step outside and embrace the great outdoors. A simple picnic in a nearby park is a great place to start, or you could find a good walking trail, go to the botanic gardens, or visit a nearby national park.

Spending quality time in nature is a great way to get over winter. Step beyond your comfort zone, lift your face to the sky, and try to sync up with the outside world.

Get yourself organised

Springtime is known for cleaning, and for very good reason. With doors shut tight to keep in the warmth, physical dirt and psychological grime accumulate more readily over the winter. In contrast, warmer weather is the perfect time to get clean, tidy, and organised. As your doors open to the world once more, you have a chance to clean out everything that doesn’t serve you any more. Even small decluttering tasks can lead to a profound sense of renewal.

Getting rid of old stuff is the perfect way to make room for what’s ahead. Think about what you really need, give things away to charity, and give your home a new sense of space.

Shake up your routine

The tropical year goes for 365 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 16 seconds — or thereabouts. The world is constantly changing over this period, literally turning on its axis as it moves around the sun. While it can seem scary, embracing change is the best way to move forward. As the temperature starts to rise, you have the perfect opportunity to adjust your routine and climb slowly out of hibernation. It doesn’t even matter what you do — just do something a little different from the day, week, month, and season before.

Spring is the perfect time to start a new healthy routine. If you do something new (like dancing) for just 10 minutes a day and repeat it for 3 days in a row, a new habit has already started to form.

Focus on yoga and breathing

A year can be seen as a single breath, as we inhale over winter and exhale over the warmer months. Spring is the time for expansion, but it starts slowly and needs to be approached with calmness. One of the best ways to connect with this cycle is by doing simple yoga exercises and mindful breathing. When you practice yoga with focused intent, you start to develop an intrinsic understanding of the world and your place within it.

Doing yoga is the perfect way to wake up after a long winter. Just a few minutes a day can make a big difference, as it creates a still point in your day for reflection and possible reset.

Moving beyond winter can feel like hard work, but no one expects miracles. By following these simple tips and taking it easy during the transition, you can approach the warmer weather with a renewed sense of vigour and confidence.
