Breakfast • 15 Minutes
Eating a tasty, nutritious breakfast is a great way to help kick-start your day the best way you can. With the 2 Cholesterol-Lowering Weetbix biscuits per serving, they hit the recommendation of plant sterols shown to reduce the bad cholesterol. Ensure to choose the ‘Cholesterol-Lowering’ Weetbix instead of the regular to receive the added plant sterols for a healthy heart. Make this big batch of cereal for the week ahead, store in an airtight container for up to 4 weeks.
Ingredients
- 8 Cholesterol-Lowering Weetbix (crushed)
- ½ cup dried fruit, roughly chopped (e.g. dried cranberries)
- ½ cup mixed unsalted nuts, roughly chopped (e.g. almonds, walnuts)
- ¼ cup flaxseeds
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C.
- Crush the Weetbix biscuits into small pieces in a large mixing bowl.
- In another bowl, add the nuts and flaxseeds.
- Mix in the dried fruits to the nuts.
- Spread the nut/seed/dried fruit mixture on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Bake the mixture in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the almonds and seeds are lightly toasted.
- Once the mixture is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Once cooled, mix with the crushed Weetbix and then store in an airtight container.
- Serve with 1 cup of milk and a drizzle of honey (optional).
