To Overcome Anxiety, You Need to Understand it

Once you understand anxiety, you are better able to manage and get rid of it from your life. Did you know that over 25% of all Australians will experience a form of anxiety in their lifetime?

That’s one in four people.

And most of these every day people, will just carry on with their day to day lives, dealing with their responsibilities, whilst finding it hard to cope or understand why they are feeling the way they do. Real people who will probably not get the opportunity to speak to someone about their struggle.

We don’t believe that is right.

Taking the time to understand

In the last 10 years Live Life Get Active have worked with over 100,000 people right across Australia promoting and facilitating better health. Better physical health, better mental health and better social health. When you work with this many people and you ask them about their issues and dreams you get a very good understanding of their lives.
You also understand how much they care and how much they want to enjoy life and give it a real go.

Anxiety will affect 1 in 4 people – it doesn’t discriminate

Everyone deserves to feel happy and enjoy life

Part of getting to know the people we work with, is about understanding their fears and frustrations. Anxiety is ranked right up there. So we decided to create a program to help people help themselves in dealing with this problem. Help them understand what anxiety is, why a little is actually a good thing and a lot is not. Help them understand the different types of anxiety and why the manifest themselves. Help them understand how anxiety makes us feel and importantly what can be done to cope with it. And eventually, hopefully live with and overcome it.

Positive social connection changes lives – strangers can make the best mates!

A big task, you may think. Well, yes and no. You see, we have worked with over 116 different cultures in our time. We have worked with young adults, Mums, tradies, teachers and nurses and we have worked with people in their 80’s and 90’s. We work across the social spectrum and everyone who comes into our environment is treated as equal.

Working with so many different people we realised that any program we produced needed to resonate with everyone. It needed to be easily understood and most importantly it needed to provide actionable help. We wanted people to feel an attachment without using stereotypes and have clarity of a complex subject, so we decided to animate. And we created a character called “Empathy” – because everyone needs empathy, no matter how tough or cool they think they are.

And finally, we called the course My Positive Mind because that is our end goal. To help people build a positive mindset.

My Positive Mind – All about Anxiety
