Five Reasons Why It’s So Important to Get Outside

In our technology-focused world, getting back to nature can be a breath of fresh air. As humans, we feel a natural connection with the world, and explains our desire to be outside and surrounded by green. If you’re looking for reasons why you should spend time outdoors, we’re here to help with reasons why you should get back to nature to live a happier, healthier life.

1. Lower Your Stress Levels

With work, school, and projects, it can be easy to feel stressed out. However, spending 10 to 20 minutes in a green space can help reduce your stress levels. A few minutes in the great outdoors is shown to reduce the stress hormone Cortisol and with it the tension in your body.

2. You’ll Feel Happier

If you live or spend time in nature, you’ll begin to feel better. Being outside can lower your depression and anxiety levels, and this can help improve your mood. Go for short walks in green spaces or spend at least 30 minutes outside per week. You’ll soon start to feel better and improve your outlook.

3. Improve Your Sleep Cycle

When you’re inside all day and staring at blue screens, you can find yourself having trouble falling asleep. This is because your body’s natural internal clock can get out of sync. Spending time outside can help fix this. Your body will naturally start to feel tired when it gets dark out, and awake when it’s light out.

4. Build a Stronger Immune System

Do you find yourself getting sick a lot? If so, a visiting the great outdoors on a regular basis can help you build up your immune system. Your immune system will start forming more white blood cells, and these blood cells will help you fight off bacteria and infections. This means that it’ll take more to make you sick and you’ll be healthier overall.

5. Helps Keep a Healthy Weight
