Why is Cardio Exercise so important?
The majority of us sit far too long during the day. If you sit for more than 6 hours a day, you are really increasing your risk of heart disease.
Think about it…. Think about your day. You wake up, you get dressed you travel to work. How long did you sit? You work all day. How long did you sit? You travel home. How long did you sit? You eat and relax after a stressful day. How long did you sit?
Add up the hours. Now ask yourself how much cardio exercise did I do? Did I take any time out of my day to look after my heart, the heart that looks after me? Did it pump hard for at least 30 mins?
Globally research shows that cardiovascular fitness helps protect against heart disease. As fitness goes up, the incidence of heart disease goes down.
If done regularly, cardiovascular exercise helps improve many risk factors for heart disease. It lowers blood pressure, maintains weight loss, and makes the heart stronger and more efficient so it can deliver more blood to the muscles. Exercise also improves cholesterol by raising HDL levels (the healthy type of cholesterol) and lowering LDL levels (the unhealthy type of cholesterol).
Next time someone asks why you are going to the park to take a class you can tell them.
